waking up in strange places.... again

She started to stir,  rolling over in her bed in search of that elusive comfortable spot that would lull her back to sleep.   Alas the spot was just out of reach and she found the exhaustion fading as reality began to filter in.   The first thing she noticed was the smell.   The fetid stench of the goblin dungeons was gone,  replaced with the sweetness of incense.   The contrast was so different it almost made her ill.

The sounds came next.  The chanting was definitely not in the gutteral Goblin tongue.  

Slowly she opened her eyes and took in the sweet sunlight streaming through the window.   After spending that short amount of time in the caves she realized she could never live in a world without sunlight!  

Though her muscles were a little sore she was eager to get out of bed.  Overall she felt pretty good considering the beating she had taken when they caught her trying to escape.   She was foolish to let herself get caught in the first place.   The guilt for putting her party in danger like that weighed heavily on her the longer she was awake.   It was so different having them in her life. She had spent years on her own,  not having to worry about anyone else.  But that also meant no one worried about her.   She didn't want to lose what she had gained with her new found friends.   She had to find a way to make it up to them,  if they would still let her.   But what could she do?

She had to think of something

The appearance of Salem brought her back to the present, and at the sight of him she matched his smile and joined in his chuckle, though there was a hint of sheepishness in her eyes.

"We have to stop meeting like this" she joked playfully. There was a air of truth in those words though.

Getting to her feet, she started to busy herself with getting her things in order. Even though everything had been neatly laid out, presumably by the healer who had taken care of her, she continued on stubbornly. "So what did I miss this time?" She didn't turn to look at him when she asked, hiding her guilt in the busy work she was doing. She did manage to keep her tone casual, as if they were talking about the weather, much to her relief.
